The owner of the Sdarot (TV) website was ordered to pay 5 million NIS
The Tel Aviv District Court issued a landmark ruling in the fight against online piracy, targeting one of the largest pirate websites in Israel— Sdarot. The court found the site liable for copyright infringement and awarded damages of 5 NIS.
The rights organization Zira (Israeli Internet Copyright Union) was represented by Adv. Eran Presenti, Partner and Head of the Intellectual Property Department at our firm, together with Adv. Shahar Ben Perez and Adv. Yael Litvin from the department.
Summing up the case, Adv. Presenti stated:
“Rights holders are taking active legal steps to protect their intellectual property, and the battle against online piracy continues. It is clear that the courts recognize the challenges faced by rights owners and respect the various legal proceedings brought before them”
