Corona news flash|Privacy – update no. 2
The Privacy Protection Authority has recently issued a manifesto and directives on issues relevant to the protection of privacy, in light of the spread of Coronavirus and which relate to public conduct, public bodies and employers in the private sector.
The Authority’s view is that the legal right to privacy does not prevent health services and other bodies in their efforts to cope with Coronavirus and prevent its spread.
However, the Authority stresses that, even if, in emergency and extreme situations, a violation of privacy may ostensibly be considered justifiable, care must be taken to act in accordance with the principles of privacy protection, and to ensure that the harm caused as a result of any such activity
does not exceed what the circumstances require.
The Authority provides answers on several specific issues with which various bodies may have to cope.
