IS A JUDGMENT RENDERED BY A GEORGIAN COURT VALID IN ISRAEL?
A Georgian construction company applied for the enforcement of a NIS 2 million judgement rendered by a Georgian court against a subsidiary of the Israeli construction group Ashtrom.
Ashtrom, represented by a litigation team headed by advocate Michael Oiknine, established that the requirement for reciprocity was not satisfied as Israeli awards are not enforced in Georgia, and thus the motion for enforcement should be denied.
The Tel Aviv District Court accepted the argument and rejected the Georgian company’s appeal.
