Petition to the High Court filed by our firm on behalf of Olympic sports associations
The sports associations of baseball, softball, American football, lacrosse, squash, and cricket have filed an urgent petition with the High Court of Justice against the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
The petition was submitted by Adv. Raz Nizri, Senior Partner and Head of the Public Law, Regulation, and Crisis Management Department at our firm, together with Adv. Avinoam Segal-Elad, a partner in the department.
The petition claims that although these sports are set to participate in the upcoming Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028, recent changes made by the Ministry to the support criteria will result in significant budgetary discrimination against them compared to other Olympic sports. This, the petition argues, constitutes a serious violation of the principle of equality and may harm the athletes’ chances in the Olympics.
