A lawsuit against Meta in the Tel Aviv District Court, alleging that the company enables the promotion of pirated content services on Facebook and Instagram
A group of major Israeli media companies — including YES, HOT, Keshet Broadcasting, Charlton, the Sports Channel, and United King Films — have jointly filed a lawsuit against Meta in the Tel Aviv District Court, alleging that the company enables the promotion of pirated content services on Facebook and Instagram.
The plaintiffs, together with Zira — the Israeli organization for the enforcement of copyright on the internet — claim that Meta allows users on its platforms to conceal their true identities, promote content and services that infringe on their copyrights, and profits directly from these violations.
They are demanding that Meta take immediate action to remove the infringing ads and prevent similar promotions in the future.
The lawsuit also calls for full disclosure of Meta’s direct and indirect revenues from such ads and claims damages in the amount of 2.6 million Shekels (approximately $730,000).
It was filed by Adv. Eran Presenti , partner and head of the Intellectual Property practice at our firm, together with Adv. Shahar Ben-Praz from the firm’s Litigation Department.
