Rapid change and innovation are at the heart of the IT and communications industry sector. M. Firon & Co.'s Telecommunications & Media team combines a detailed knowledge of Israeli telecommunications, antitrust and administrative law, economic principles, overlapping regulatory institutions, and complex new technologies. We work closely with the firm's other practices to meet the full range of our clients' needs, thus helping to ensure that our clients are always at the forefront of any industry change.
The team's expertise spans, among other things, obtaining requisite authorizations to provide domestic and international wire line, wireless and resale-based telecommunications services; ongoing consolidation and restructuring as players reposition themselves in an increasingly competitive and global market; increased shareholder scrutiny in the wake of insolvencies and scandals; the search for new markets as both incumbents and new entrants face cannibalization of legacy voice revenues by voice-over-IP and increasing convergence between fixed, mobile, internet and broadcasting players; opportunities for market entry facilitated by spectrum liberalization; outsourcing and off shoring by market players to reduce cost and improve efficiency; and regulatory issues for the protection of privacy in the use of information and database. The team, in conjunction with the Intellectual Property & Media team, represents television and movie production companies with regard to transactions involving the sale and acquisition of channels, broadcasting rights, merchandising, establishment and operation of television and other media channels throughout the world.
